HUNGRY FOR POWER

THEMANBEHIND

In April 2017 I retired after 33 years as an Electronics Engineer supporting the US Navy, where most of that time I was essentially an anti-rocket scientist.  I've always been a "car guy", although I did get into performance modification pretty late.  In high school I purchased my first car, a well used '66 GTO.  I later sold it unfortunately to buy something easier on gas..  In 2003 I purchased a new Chevy Avalanche and thanks to the "bad influence" of new online forum friends I got bit by the performance modification bug.  I started with the simple cold air intake modification, then purchased a Hypertech Programmer.  As an engineer I realized the limitations of the Hypertech and bought an HPTuners setup.  From there I've used the HPTuners hardware and software to tune the truck after installing multiple camshafts, torque converters, and supercharger with larger injectors and water/methanol injection.  Somewhere north of 200,000 miles I rebuilt the trucks transmission in my garage, and short of 300,000 miles on the truck I retired the Avalanche's original 5.3 liter engine in favor or an ATK high performance 6.0 liter.

A few years ago I picked up a 2000 Corvette at the Mecum Indy Auction with close to 100,000 miles on the clock.  It had an aftermarket camshaft, intake manifold, long-tube headers and mufflers that screamed for attention.  But it also had a questionable custom tune.  After fixing the tune the 'vette had a lifter fail at the end of the 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour.  I rebuilt that engine, also in my garage, and added an even bigger cam.  The car is a screamer, and it "survived" the 2016 Hot Rod Power Tour.

My passion is cars, particularly fast and powerful ones.  I'd love to apply my passion and technical experience to your car or truck.
